Living Through A Remodel

Remodeling your home can be exciting, but let’s be honest—it can also be very disruptive! Our goal is to make an uncomfortable situation as comfortable as possible by sharing best practices we’ve developed over the years, as well as some creative tips from past clients.

Storage: One of the first steps is to clear out the work area and store anything you don’t want damaged. We recommend using labeled bins so everything is easy to find when it’s time to move back in. For larger remodels where space is tight, renting a mobile storage pod can be a lifesaver.

Remodel containment: Keeping your living space clean and separate from the work area is a priority. We use heavy-duty plastic with zipper access to contain dust and debris, along with protective flooring to safeguard other areas of your home.

Client Tip: A few of our clients have kept flip-flops and a small rug outside the work zone to avoid tracking fine dust throughout the house. (We love Flojos for flip-flops—they’re available on Amazon!)

Temporary Kitchen: During a kitchen remodel, eating out can be fun at first but gets old fast. To help, we provide a temporary kitchen setup with a sink, table, and the existing microwave.

Pro Tip: If you enjoy grilling, it’s a great way to make delicious homemade meals without a full kitchen!

Temporary Laundry: When laundry access is impacted, we can set up a washing machine using an outdoor hose bib and a backyard drainage area. While it’s not a permanent solution, it helps keep your routine manageable.

Living through a remodel isn’t always easy, but these tips can make it smoother and less stressful. Have your own advice? We’d love to hear it—your feedback helps us improve the experience for future clients!
